Strategy Vienna University Library 2030

The University of Vienna Library (UL), through its Main Library, Subject Libraries, and Archive, provides outstanding conditions for research, teaching, and study. As one of the oldest university libraries, it offers access to more than ten million resources, supports scholarship in the digital age, advances Open Science, and fosters exchange and information literacy through modern learning spaces and a wide range of educational services. The UL is committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion, as well as to the Sustainable Development Goals.

This strategy for the years 2026–2030 consists of three parts: The mission statement describes our identity and the way we aspire to work by 2030. It is complemented by values that fundamentally shape our actions. Six strategic priorities define our guiding principles for the coming years and identify specific fields of action that will guide our activities. In addition, the UL carries out a wide range of ongoing responsibilities that ensure the high quality of our services and that we will continue to pursue alongside these strategic priorities.
