You can borrow most books that may be borrowed for 28 days. You need a library card to borrow books. You receive your library card at the library information desk once you have presented your student ID card (or an official photo ID card if you are not a student), and your residence registration form..

You can reserve books that are currently borrowed (specified on u:search as: “On loan until DD.MM.YYYY” under “Status”). You will receive a notification e-mail as soon as the book has been returned to the special library and is ready to collect. We keep books you reserved ready to collect for 5 working days.
You may not borrow periodicals and old books. Please see the relevant details on u:search.
Academic staff of the University of Vienna can borrow books for up to 1 year (with a project pass or a reserve collection pass) or even up to 2 years (with a research collection pass). The name of the person who has borrowed the book is specified in the online catalogue to allow other users to access the item. These items must be kept in the relevant subunit of the University of Vienna.
