The Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies Library provides the necessary scientific literature for research, teaching and studies for the scientific staff and the students of the Institute of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies of the University of Vienna. As a public academic library it may also be used by all other persons.
The Vienna University Library regulations (PDF, in German) apply.
All the holdings of the library are placed in mobile shelves according to a specific shelfmark classification. The users can take the books from the shelves themselves and read them in the library or borrow them at the library counter. Holds via u:search can only be placed on books already loaned.
Keys for the lockers can be borrowed at the library counter with your library card. If you don’t have a library card, we accept a valid ID by way of a pledge.
Books that are essential to university courses are placed under the names of the teachers in the low grey shelves in front of the seminar room of the Institute. These items are not loanable in order to allow access by as many students as possible.
Users with physical disabilities can obtain a special authorization to order books to the library counter. All books can be ordered there, either to be read in the library or to be borrowed. In case of necessity, please send an e-mail to: fb-byzantinistik.ub@univie.ac.at
